Join us on Friday, October 18 at 2:30-4:30pm at the Schultz Community Center at Nazareth University as In This Moment shares community leaders’ stories and illuminates their life’s dedication to uplifting our communities.
Learn more about inequality in health care and mental health care, equal pay and respect for Black leaders, the persistent racial barriers community members face, and the actions changemakers are taking to address these inequities.
In This Moment was born with a mission to unveil, amplify, and preserve the stories of contemporary Black leaders from across the Rochester area by providing educational resources that restore and repair historic narratives that would have been lost to time.
With the support of our community (including support from Nazareth University), ITM has published 22 distinct books featuring Black Rochesterian leaders. These books have been distributed and used by schools, public libraries, individuals, and community organizations throughout the region. 22,000 chapbooks in total have been distributed for free!
As part of our Centennial Celebrations, Nazareth is hosting the co-creators of the In This Moment Series, Amanda Chestnut and Jeanne Strazzabosco, along with two additional Rochester Changemakers — Dr. Linda Clark, President and CEO of Jordan Health, and Ms. Melanie Funchess, CEO/Principal Ubuntu Village Works — for conversations and dialogue about working towards equity and justice, exploring ITM’s themes of revolution, reckoning, and reparation.
