Rochester Fringe Festival: The Velvet Noose presents Psyche and Eros III: The Pangs of Finality
Come experience the dreamlike and profoundly beautiful world of The Velvet Noose, pulsing with “emotional provocation” and “enigmatic sensibility,” per CITY’s Daniel Kushner. Psyche and Eros III: The Pangs of Finality is the final installment of the troupe’s Psyche and Eros trilogy, which traces the labyrinthine journey of love, devotion, and ruin that courses through the human heart. Powerful visual symbolism, tender ritual, and vigorous physical expression unbraid the themes of desire, rupture, and the journey through these vulnerable human experiences. Where does love go when the beloved is out of reach? What of animated memories and the profound shadows they cast? What of the inescapable end that awaits all living beings? On obsession. On surrender. On transcendence. On the joy and the grief that comes with being alive. A Velvet Noose experience like no other—a continuation all the same.
