Rochester Art Collectors is collaborating with experienced local art collector, entrepreneur, business consultant and Founding Member of Rochester Art Collectors, Brad VanAuken, to talk about a provocative new book by Mangus Resch on how to collect art.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

2:00 - 2:30 pm - Informal social mixer

Attendees will have 30 minutes or so to chat with eachother and our host. In addition, attendees will have a chance to see works from our host's notable private art collection.

2:30 pm - Program begins

The disussion will cover the first four chapters of the book:

1. Introduction (Motivations and Strategies for Collecting);

2. Investing in Art (Why Most Art is Not a Good Investment);

3. Navigating the Art Market (Data, Players, Power Structures) and

4. Collectors (Learning from Other Collectors).

Brad will lead a facilitated discussion jumping off from the topics and issues found in "How To Collect Art". A good part of the conversation will include attendees' interests, opinions, values, experiences, strategies, etc. on collecting art. We expect a lively exchange of ideas to result.
